Frequently Asked Questions
How do I order meals?
Please refer to the Orders section of our Website.
Do I have to order a certain number of meals?
Yes, our minimum order is three main meals.
What is the price of the meals?
Please refer to our Menu section for the most up to date pricing of our meals.
What does regular and large mean?
There are two meal sizes available – regular and large. Both sizes are served with the main item and accompanied by seasonal vegetables (some meals are served with rice too). A large dish will contain a slightly bigger serve of the main item and more vegetables. Many of our customers elect to receive regular meals.
How do I pay for my meals?
Our preferred payment method is credit card through the office with the payment for each order deducted the day before delivery. In exceptional circumstances, we can accommodate cash or cheque on delivery.
What happens if my meals are paid for me by a community care organization under a Home Care Package, can I still receive Choice Fresh Meals?
We deal with many of the major community care organizations such as Freemasons, Villa Maria, Southern Cross, Annecto and ACES. If you would like to receive our meals as part of your HCP programme, please let us know and we will contact your care organization on your behalf.
When are my delivery days?
This depends on where you live and will vary from 3 times a week in populated areas to once a week in some outlying areas. When you place your first order with us, we will advise you of your delivery days and approximate delivery time.
Do I have to be home to receive my meal delivery?
If you are not going to be home and in order to protect your meals, please leave a well insulated eski with sufficient ice packs outside your front door and put your order into the fridge within 2 hours of delivery.
Will the delivery driver put the meals in my fridge for me?
Our delivery drivers will assist you as much as they possibly can. This includes entering a customer’s home (on request) and putting the meals in the fridge.
What happens if I dislike certain foods?
If there are certain foods that you cannot eat or do not like, please inform our staff when you first become a customer. We will make sure that your meals do not include the nominated item.
What happens if I have special dietary requirements such as a diabetic?
We do offer quite a number of diabetic friendly meals which are referred to by a “D” next to the meal. If you have any other dietary requirements, please ask our staff.
Do you have Gluten Free meals?
Yes, refer to our menu for items noted with (GF) after the meal name.
Why are Choice Fresh Meals chilled and not frozen?
Choice Fresh Meals wishes to provide our customers with the best tasting and highest quality food so we have chosen to provide chilled rather than frozen meals. This approach also allows us to cook meals to order.
How do I reheat my meals?
Please refer to our ‘How to heat your Choice Fresh Meal sheet’
How long will the meals keep?
Our meals have a ‘use by date’ of three days from the date of delivery. This assumes that the meals are kept at or below 5° in the fridge.
Can I freeze the meals once I receive them?
It is perfectly safe to freeze most of our meals. Many of our customers order enough meals for an extended period of time (say a week) and they freeze the meals that they will not consume in the first three days. We recommend that if meals are to be frozen, they are placed in the freezer when they are first received, rather than at the end of their refrigerated life. Also, meals should be re-heated in the oven or microwave directly from the freezer. Do not thaw them first. Please note that some of our meals, such as the salads and some desserts such as Pavlova and Mousse are not designed to be frozen and are referenced as DNF (Do not Freeze)
How can I be sure that the meals I order are safe?
Choice Fresh Meals has implemented a thorough and rigorous food safety programme. This programme is audited by an independent third party on a regular basis and an external food safety consultant reviews our performance on a fortnightly basis. All our chilling areas and our food delivery vans are temperature monitored on a continuous basis to ensure the meals are delivered in the safest possible state. For more information, please see our Food Safety Information Sheet.
